Giles Mitchell is an award winning industrial designer from the UK. He studied industrial design at Kingston University in London and upon graduation was immediately headhunted for a 3 year contract in Japan. He then ended up living and working in Tokyo for a total of 14 years, specialising in the design of consumer electrical products.
Giles has designed several products for Mitsubishi, Toshiba and Wacom that are sold globally. He is listed as an inventor in over 10 registered patents and is credited as the designer in 8 Red Dot Design Awards and 6 IF Design Awards. Giles also recently picked up the prestigious Japan Industrial Design Association Prize for Wacom Intuos and the design was subsequently exhibited in Tokyo’s Axis Gallery Design Museum in January 2020.
Giles currently lives and works in Stockholm. He speaks Japanese and has a passion for ceramics, skiing and painting. He cares about the importance of inclusion and diversity for creative teams, LGBT issues and loves to cook vegan food.
