Wacom One
Wacom One is a creative pen display aimed at non-professionals. The design language is therefore deliberately softer and more inviting.
In order to provide an optimum ergonomic angle for the device, we designed some fold out legs to be incorporated into the rear side. This was a challenge to minimise the thickness but also ensure a strong build quality.
When closed the legs also provide a non-slip surface for the rear side. A nib remover tool and spare nibs are also discretely hidden under the fold out legs.
During development several high fidelity prototypes were made to simulate the appearance. These were used to refine design details as well as identify some possible colour directions.
In order to convey this more friendly causual tone we decided that this could not be just another black tablet. We developed an original resin colour material and finish. The high contact surfaces such as the pen grip and legs and front face would be black to keep a practical and clean appearance.
